What is Trunnion mounted ball valve?

A trunnion mounted ball valve is a type of isolation valve with quarter turn type where the ball is attached (anchored) at the top and bottom by shaft which is known as trunnion.

Unlike the floating ball valve, the ball in TMBV (Trunnion Mounted Ball Valve) is supported at both ends by a trunnion, reducing bearing pressure and allowing for effective sealing at high pressures. It is ideal for large-size and high-pressure applications.

It is intended to function as fully OPEN or fully CLOSED. These valves are widely known for their double block and bleed (DBB) functionality, offering complete isolation of flowing fluid.

Do you manufacture API 6D Ball Valves?

What is the difference between Double Block and Bleed (DBB) and Double Isolation and Bleed (DIB)?

Double Block and Bleed (DBB) seals against pressure from both sides but relieves cavity pressure to the lower pressure side. Double Isolation and Bleed (DIB) (available on request) use bi-directional seats to isolate the cavity strictly, often required for critical isolation service application.

What is the difference between Trunnion Mounted and Floating Ball Valves?

Trunnion mounted valves have a fixed ball and movable seats, ideal for high-pressure and large-diameter pipelines. Floating ball valves have a ball that moves slightly to create a seal, and are better suited for low to medium pressure systems.
