Through Conduit Knife Gate Valves (O-Port) for Slurry & Pulp
Key features:
Body: Sturdy design to handle toughest flow challenge
Self-cleaning gate: It features a gate that extends completely through valve body. When valve opens “O-Port” aligns perfectly with pipeline offering smooth flow of media. When the valve is closed, the gates shut off the flow while the ported section exits from bottom of the valve- this way it self-cleans the valve
- Size range: 100 mm to 600 mm (Higher sizes on request)
Excellent sealing: The seals used offers excellent sealing and various options available to choose from Metal to metal to soft sealing (including EPDM, Viton, PTFE, rPTFE etc.)
Epoxy coatings on valves: Hubluxe offers epoxy coating for all Cast Iron knife gate valves as per requirements
- Actuation options: Manual, Pneumatic, Electrical actuator, Bare shaft, Gearbox operated, Manual override

The Through Conduit (O-Port) Knife Gate Valves from HUBLUXE ENGINEERING is designed to handle high pressure & high temperature application media – especially those with bulk solids, crystallization or abrasive particles.
It offers zero-leakage, tight shut-off, full bore flow and smooth passage of abrasive or slurry media.
The sliding gate of through conduit knife gate valve appears as “O shape” hence it is also known as “O-port knife gate valve”.
The key feature of this valve is full port design where the gate has central opening that aligns perfectly with the pipeline in OPEN condition, creating uninterrupted flow path.
The through conduit knife gate valve applications in various industries includes: Food & beverages, Metallurgy, Pulp & Paper, Petrochemical, Pharma, Sugar Industries, Sewage & waste water treatment plants to name a few.

Find detailed answers to common questions about Through Conduit knife gate valve in our Knowledge centre.
A through conduit knife gate valve consist of sliding gate with O shape like gate in center, when it is in open condition the “O-Port” aligns perfectly with the pipeline ensuring smooth flow of media.
The disc of the knife gate valve is flat, while the edge of the disc is oval shape knife type oblique (like the blade of knife) which is capable enough to cut through slurries, abrasive media.
The primary advantage is zero leakage and tight shutoff when the valve is in close position. The full-bore design clears off any solid particles from accumulating in the gate, which then ensures reliable operation with slurries, abrasive and corrosive fluids.
Also, the design of the valve is compact to fit easily in pipeline with less space required. The end connection can be wafer type, Lug type and Flange type depending on the pipeline requirements.
Yes. While Hubluxe Engineering’s through conduit valve is superior for challenging slurries, however it is not recommended to use it for following scenarios:
- Throttling: They are not well suited for throttling control (e.g. partial open). When the valve is opened partially it causes throttling and may damage the gate & seat due to abrasive / slurry flowing media
- Clean or Low-pressure fluids: Since this valve is engineered to handle slurry, abrasive & corrosive fluids it is not at all well suited for clear fluids such as clear water, oil, or compressed gases. In such cases standard Ball valve or Gate valves are more durable and cost-effective options.
- Small bore size: It is not recommended to use in bore size less than 2” / DN 50.
- Incorrect installation at site: For large diameter, if the valves are not properly supported it may create stress on the body eventually body starts cracking. Ensure to provide required pipe support near the valve to avoid such stress, jamming leading to operational issues.
- Irregular maintenance: Periodic valve maintenance is an important step for proper functioning of any valves. Neglecting the maintenance may result in jamming issues, sticky gates, wear & tear of seals which can affect the true performance of the valve.
Unintended use: Using the valve other than its intended use, it can lead to operational issues and sometimes potential damage to the valves. It is always recommended to discuss with manufacturer for correct product solutions.
