This allows for high torque transmission and makes it a preferred side entry rotary airlock valve or drop through rotary airlock valve for abrasive process lines.

The Chain drive rotary airlock valve consist of chain and sprocket mechanism which is then connected to both rotor and to an external power drive source such as electric motor & gearbox.

The motor drives the chain to rotate the rotor vanes & as the rotor turns, it carries the materials to the bottom of RAV to drop it out. To minimise the air leakage, a tight clearance is provided between rotor and housing.

The main function is to transfer the bulk materials at controlled rate from a hopper (e.g. a silo) into the process stream.

It is most commonly used in industries handling powder, cements, pellets granules, chemicals etc. The Chain Drive Rotary Airlock Valve is one of the traditional heavy-duty setup RAVs used for bulk material handling.
